The exhibition is a collection of photographic and video pieces from six Royal College of Art (RCA) photography graduates. The exhibition explores the relationship between reality and fantasy through various objects and spaces relating to everyday life and society.
Each artist’s work seeks to redefine the ordinary and the commonplace through the manipulation of different photographic media. Drawing inspiration from various stimuli and themes as diverse as nature, consumerism, nostalgia and urban culture, the series is an eclectic mix of modern works using materials ranging from family album photos and book illustrations to video footage and nightclub décor.
The result is a blurring of the lines between fact and fiction, between everyday experience and private fantasy, creating a photographic collection that aims to make perception a reality in itself.
The exhibition opened
to the public from 1st October to 12th November 2004 at Hiscox.
